Ima Robot began earning a reputation as one of LA’s most compelling, if deeply unpolished, live bands in 1998. Two years later, their vast catalog of demos had become a kind of hard currency amongst die hard fans. Though they signed to a major label in 2004 and released two “radio-ready” albums, behind the scenes they continued their DIY tradition, recording hundreds of wildly eclectic unreleased songs.

While serious fans have managed to collect and organize some of these songs on sites, most of them have never had a proper release.

Another Man’s Treasure represents a unique era in the band’s development (2007-2010). A time when the band’s members no longer looked to Ima Robot as a primary occupation, but as a means of occupational escape. The result was a return to the Ima Robot of old: highly eclectic, rap-laced, danceable oddities.

Among the batch was a rough track titled “Greenback Boogie”. A CD of the song found its way into the hands of a director of a new TV show called “Suits”. The show was a hit, and, fittingly, the rough and album-less song became the band’s biggest-ever single.

On the eve of Suits’ Greeback-backed series reboot, the band is re-releasing a newly mastered and edited Greenback Boogie in anticipation of its own reboot – a special edition of Another Man’s Treasure. With three never before heard songs, including the forthcoming banger I Don’t Know In French, Ima Robot is happy to begin an era of unreleased catalogue drops with Community Music.
